You are evaluating an unknown vendor. The useful thing we can offer instead of customer logos is a straight answer to every question you were going to have to dig for.

Support is answered by the person who built it.

Not a tier-one queue, not a chatbot, and not a partner. If you open a ticket at 3am during an incident, the reply comes from someone who can read the relevant source file.

That is a genuine advantage over a tiered support organisation, and it is also a genuine limitation: we are small. Both of those are true at once and we would rather you knew.

Why trust a closed binary from a company you've never heard of?

Sondar is built in Mountain View, California. The founder, engineering and support are all in the Bay Area.

That's the easy half. The harder half is that we don't publish the engine's source, we have no customers to point you at yet, and you are being asked to run our software against your production telemetry. A security reviewer is right to want more than a location, and "trust us" is not an answer.

So the answer has three parts, and all three are things you can check:

Architecture. Sondar runs entirely inside your network. We never receive your telemetry, and there is no activation server for the software to reach — licenses verify offline.
Independent eyes on the artifact. A named US security firm is reading the source, scoped explicitly to backdoors and undisclosed telemetry, and we publish the report in full. A separate firm is testing the running system. Plus an SBOM per release and signed reproducible builds.
Contract. Source escrow with published trigger terms, and a written cap on renewal pricing.

What we are not going to do is pretend that settles it. Those three are mitigations, not proof, and if your procurement process rules out closed-source software from vendors under a certain age, we are not going to talk you out of it — we would rather you spent your afternoon elsewhere than discovered it in week six.

Where things stand

The things a careful buyer asks that don't fit anywhere else.

Where we are: Mountain View, California. The whole team is here in the Bay Area — founder, engineering and support — on your timezone if you're in the US and awake at the wrong hour if you're not. It matters less than a security questionnaire implies and more than a footer usually admits: when something breaks at 3am Pacific, the person who answers is twenty minutes from the office and can read the source.
Company entity: A US entity is being incorporated. Until it is registered we say "US-based team," which is true today, rather than "Sondar is a US company," which is a statement about a legal entity that doesn't exist yet. We will update this line the day it changes, and not before.
How long you've existed: Sondar is new. The product and this website launched in 2026, and we would rather say that plainly than imply a track record we can't hand you a reference for. What we can hand you is everything on this page and the artifacts on the security page.
Customer references: We have no customer logos to show you yet. We are not going to borrow any, buy any, or run a testimonial carousel populated by friends. When there are real ones, they will appear with real names and you will be able to call them.
Funding and independence: Sondar sells software licenses. There is no hosted service, so there is no incentive to make self-hosting worse, and no usage meter that benefits from you logging more.
If we disappear: Your data was never ours — cold-tier data is already in your object storage in a readable format, and your instrumentation is OpenTelemetry, so it repoints at anything. Beyond that, escrow with published triggers. The commitments, in full →
